Secluded holiday cottage in South Devon

UNFORTUNATELY WE ARE NOT ABLE TO LET THE COTTAGE AT THE MOMENT. VERY MANY APOLOGIES TO ALL REPEAT AND POTENTIAL GUESTS. WE HOPE THAT THIS SITUATION WILL BE RESOLVED SOON, SO PLEASE CHECK BACK HERE OFTEN OR GET IN TOUCH.

Lower Clunkamoor Cottage is a romantic retreat for one or two people in an idyllic and wonderfully secluded rural position between Dartmoor and the sea in the South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). Surrounded by a small private nature reserve, rich in wildlife, this delightful single-storey one-bedroom stone cottage is approached down a long private drive. Our nearest neighbour is a quarter of a mile away. This is self-catering accommodation that truly is 'away from it all'.

Adjoining the owners' converted barn, Lower Clunkamoor Cottage stands in the middle of a small private nature reserve, with nineteen acres of wild gardens, young woodland, wildflower meadows and rough grassland, all managed entirely for wildlife. In June a thousand wild orchids - mostly southern marsh and leopard marsh - flower in the meadows. Sixty-five species of birds have so far been recorded at Lower Clunkamoor, buzzards soar overhead, and badgers, roe deer, hares and foxes are regularly seen on the land. We have been designated a County Wildlife Site by the Devon Wildlife Trust.

Facing due south, the cottage is on the slopes of the beautiful Avon Valley, and is superbly situated for walkers, birdwatchers and nature lovers. The wilds of Dartmoor National Park are five miles to the north, while the nearest part of the South Devon coast, with its wonderful clifftop walks, sandy coves and wooded estuaries, is nine miles to the south-west. The Avon Valley has beautiful woodland, romantic riverside walks, leafy lanes and pretty stone bridges.

The cottage is reached along very quiet, single-track Devon lanes but is just 15 minutes south of the main A38 Exeter to Plymouth road. It is 45 minutes from Exeter and 30 minutes from Plymouth.
